Hi everyone,
Last time I posted was when Paula made the decision for home hospice(about 2weeks ago). We took her home on Friday Feb 6th, a very emotional day, Paula was having hallucinations, and the Dr. while crying told us that she didn't think she would make it through the weekend, neither did we. Paula was getiing worse and worse everyday, her eye swelled completley shut. She was suffering terribly even with all the pain meds. Her picc line blew, finally put in a hiccman.
We were desperate, so we started to think of all the research we had done on alternative treatments, it couldn't hurt, we started giving her essiac tea twice a day, protein drinks immune builder complex, we were desperate. Then this past sunday her throat had swollen soo much that she couldn't swallow she was scared that she would not be able to breathe much longer so we took her to the hospital, they gave her fluids and antibiotics hoping the swelling would go down. by monday it did, she was eating and feeling good. Yesterday she looked awesome, I hung out with her in the hospital during the day today, I had such a good feeling when I left, she looked good, i called my husband(her brother) and a few other family members to tell them. Well about 6pm we got a call, HER BLASTS ARE 58!!! DOWN FROM 98!! HER white counts are 11,000!!!! 2 weeks ago they were 74,000!!! we went to the hospital and ate Lobster to celebrate. The dr. can't explain this. Was it the supplements?? An act of GOD??? I think the latter, PRAISE GOD !!!
I know 58% is still alot, but it's better than 98!!! I pray that her counts continue to drop. Talk about emotional roller coaster!! We started making funeral arrangements, now we are making plans to go to the movies.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this???
I'll keep you informed.
Gwen

Thank you very much for passing this news on to us. I had to be honest here. This story made me a bit misty! :-)

I've never hear of such a thing in real life and I certainly love to hear things like this. Yep. It seems to me that God decided to step in here. Hmmm. Perhaps God thinks that she has a credit card to catch up on first? Don't let her pay her credit cards off! :-)

Actually sometimes I feel that way. I.e. compared to everyone else here I breezed through treatment and keep thinking that God is keeping me around because I have stuff to do. There is a little nagging voice telling me that I better not finish that stuff. Sound silly huh?

I really appreciate this story. Thank you very much for passing it on to me.

Pete

Hi Gwen,

I am happy happy about Paula. I will continue to pray.

I also bought Essiac Tea for Brianna. It is supposed to help. She also was taking natural supplements which did seem to help. But, Brianna's AML was just too aggressive. Although, the clinical trial she was on for just a week did bring her blasts down from 85% to 30%. So, I do believe in Miracles.

When she made the decision to go to Hospice her throat did swell and it was hard for her to swallow. But, she decided to stop all treatments. They just medicated her until she passed peacefully in her sleep. I guess God needed her right away. Tell Paula to keep fighting and not to give up. You never know. Tell Paula to keep drinking the tea and taking her supplements.

Keep the faith and I am thinking of Everyone,
Love, Madison

Wow, that is such a miracle! God definately wants to keep her here on purpose for a reason, and perhaps you both can dig into what the special person might be, or she is too just too special right now to be taken away in Gods hands. Whatever it is, keep up the faith!

Gwen,

Out of curiousity, have Paula's doctors been giving her shots to boost her white counts? We found out that this could produce what "looks like" blasts but really are not. This happened to my husband so I was just wondering.

The Hospital sent Paula home yesterday!!
No shots to boost her white counts, her white counts were 74,000 two weeks ago that was too high as it was.
Our entire family really thinks that God has his hands all over this one. One thing I hadn't mentioned about Paula is that she only recently turned to God, maybe about a month and a half? Her Parents are very very religious, most of the family is, noone could get through to Paula, she had some bad experiences with "christians" in the past and it turned her off for a long time. Finally my husband's Pastor came to visit, and something happened to her, from that point she was constantly reading the bible, and when she couldn't see she ask one of us to read to her. Maybe he has plans for her, It's got to be big. I'll keep you updated.
We continue to pray for everyone here.
